Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Updates

The upcoming updates from Microsoft for Xbox 360 will include support for Twitter, Facebook and Last.fm. However, also included in this update is something that could be really bad for some of you. If you are one of the gamers that uses a third-party storage device for your 360 to store data and profile info then you better look out. The new update will turn your non-authorized memory unit into a simple, useless piece of plastic.

Microsoft’s Major Nelson said:

“If you’ve moved your profile or saved games onto one to ‘back it up,’ you’d better move it back onto an authorized Xbox 360 storage device prior to taking the update. If you continue to use an unauthorized Memory Unit after the update, you will not be able to access your stored profile or saved games.”

This does not necesarily mean that all third-party memory units will be blocked and I am not even sure how many gamers actually use these third-party memory units. However, I feel like this will not at all help Microsoft stifle the ill will that has been made between itself and all of the 360 owners through the years.
