Apparently, last Thursday night there was a huge mistake made on Microsofts part when they ended up releasing the Gears of War 2 DLC that wasn’t scheduled to be released for another few weeks. The DLC expansion pack was placed in the Xbox Live Marketplace too early as it wasn’t ready and to make matters worse, it was under priced. The DLC expansion pack “All Fronts” was released to the public without warning and the unsuspecting gamers that were able to jump on the opportunity and purchase it early were faced with a problem with the download being full of errors and they were unable to actually fully download the content. Seeing as the content wasn’t even prepared to be released yet over the Xbox Live Marketplace, this doesn’t surprise me at all. It took Epic Games quite a while to realize that the expansion pack had been released early by mistake, but they eventually got the download pulled from the Xbox Live Marketplace.
The official scheduled release date of the expansion pack is set for July 28th and this still remains the official release date for the games expansion pack even for those of you who have already purchased it at a discounted price. The “All Fronts” expansion pack is going to cost you a hard earned 1,600 Microsoft Points, while the slightly smaller, less entertaining “Dark Corners” expansion pack is only going to cost you 1,200 Microsoft Points. The content provided in both expansions sounds very promising for the game, but then again, didn’t Gears of War 2 in general sound promising to us all? Sadly, I am a Gears of War die hard gamer turned Gears of War 2 hater.
