Next week, you will finally get to play Dark Void. This game was supposed to come out in the fall of 2009 originally. However, Capcom, the developer, decided that it would be better for the game if they waited to release it. They wanted to have more time in order to further improve the game and also to wait for a less busy market. That is most likely because this was the same time that Halo 3: ODST came out.
“Dark Void was gonna be a fall [release] and truthfully, being candid, the date it was supposed to ship was the day [as] Halo 3: ODST,” said Christian Svensson, Capcom’s Vice President of strategic planning and business development. “They’re [Microsoft] like, ‘ta-da, we’re shipping, I don’t know, I forget what it was, Sept. 27 or whatever’ and we said ‘okay, sounds like a perfect time to move Dark Void!”
This game had to be moved out from behind the shadow of Bungie’s big game. Even though Capcom lied about why they delayed the game’s release, but either way, it was a good decision because it did help out the game.
“Truthfully, we put the extra couple months [to good use],” he said. “We did the PhysX integration on the PC side of things; some of that stuff was not necessarily going to be there at launch, now it is. We put that time to good use, for sure.”
